Commuters can look forward to a smoother run on Old Landsborough Road thanks to pavement rehabilitation carried out by Sunshine Coast Council.
Division 1 Councillor Anna Grosskreutz said work was underway to improve drainage and resurface a 1.2km stretch of Old Landsborough Road.
"This section of road was in need of work to remedy some rough patches and council is delivering on that need for the local community," she said.
"This $290,000 project will improve the road surface along with drainage and increase the life of the road overall."
"As with any road works, some inconvenience to travellers is anticipated over the next few weeks but the end result will be an excellent one for the Sunshine Coast."
Asset Management and Works Portfolio Councillor Ted Hungerford said the Old Landsborough Road works were part council’s $15 million road rehabilitation and resealing program for 2010/11.
"Of that amount, $5 million will be spent on road pavement rehabilitation work while the balance is for resealing and asphalt works across the region," he said.
The road rehabilitation works start at Winston Street and finish at Maleny Street, Landsborough.
During construction, partial road closures will be in effect and access to some properties will be affected. Council inspectors will make contact with affected residents to arrange timing for access when works are going to block entrances.
The project is due for completion in early June (weather permitting).
