New facilities celebrated at Melody Court Park

Local residents joined Councillor Connolly today (Friday, February 22) to celebrate the latest improvements to Melody Court Park, Warana.

The upgrades include a number of new features such as a new barbecue, more lighting and fitness equipment.

Division 4 Councillor John Connolly said the latest additions to the park had provided more opportunities for locals to enjoy the area.

“In particular, the new lighting will allow locals to socialise well into the evening,” Cr Connolly said.

“We’ve also installed fitness equipment to encourage an active lifestyle, and a water bubbler to help quench your thirst after a great workout.

“It’s really important to provide facilities like this as it encourages residents to be active and keep fit, while enjoying some time outside with family and friends.

“It was great to speak with local residents this morning. If you’d like to discuss any council business with me, please come along to Kawana Library on Monday, February 25 from 9.30-10.30am for my next Meet and Greet.”

Local resident Linda Hayes said it’s a wonderful outcome for the area.

“It was my mission to have facilities like these in our local park so I decided to approach Cr Connolly with the proposition,” Ms Hayes said.

“There are about 250 people living in the street and these facilities provide an opportunity for residents of all ages to pursue a fit and healthy lifestyle.

“It’s a dream come true to see this project come to fruition and a big thank you to council.”

The $195,000 upgrade was funded through Councillor Connolly’s divisional funding.
