New Glossies Awards logo promotes regional sustainability all year round
  • Saturday 12 June 2010

The Sunshine Coast’s vulnerable Glossy Black Cockatoo will soon be spreading its wings to promote sustainability across the Coast.

A new awards seal featuring the iconic native bird has been designed to inspire Sunshine Coast residents and businesses to choose sustainable goods and services.

This year’s Glossies Awards winners and finalists, to be announced at a dinner at The Events Centre in Caloundra on Saturday 26 June, will be the first to use the eye-catching logo to promote that their business, services and / or goods are sustainable.

The stylised depiction of the Glossy Black Cockatoo that has given the awards its name will be seen on award winners’ and finalists’ letters, business cards, websites, advertisements and promotional brochures. It’s even been designed to be eye-catching as an office or shop window sticker.

Businesses that display the seal will have been independently identified as sustainability champions by experts in areas such as building and construction, edible landscaping, design, transport and resource management.

Every 2010 finalist and winner will receive a CD with the awards seal enclosed in formats that they can easily use.

The Glossies Awards are the premier accolade recognising and celebrating sustainability achievements of Sunshine Coast residents, community groups and businesses. Go to the Living Smart Website to download the simple Entry Kit. Entries close this Tuesday, 15 June.

The Glossies Awards are proudly sponsored by the Green Pages, the University of the Sunshine Coast, Sunshine Coast Institute of TAFE, TravelSmart (a voluntary travel behaviour change program that encourages people to use sustainable travel modes such as public transport, walking, cycling and carpooling), and Noosa Biosphere.
