A simple, no frills design using words only will be the elements of the temporary logo for the new Sunshine Coast Regional Council when it opens its doors for business on 17 March 2008.
Sunshine Coast Regional Council Interim CEO, John Knaggs, said the current logos on signage in key areas, stationery and some fleet vehicles will be changed from day one to reflect the name: Sunshine Coast Regional Council.
While community members are already contacting the current three Coast Councils with their ideas for a new logo and suggestions for fauna and flora emblems, any decisions for developing a new brand will be left to the new Sunshine Coast Regional Council,” Mr Knaggs said.
“However, it is important that from day one of the new Council, people understand that they are no longer doing business with Caloundra City, Maroochy or Noosa Councils. The three Councils will no longer exist and displaying the individual logos in high traffic areas and on letter head is confusing.
“But because neither the LTC nor the current three Councils have the authority to introduce an entirely new brand, the temporary logo will be kept simple and used as effectively as possible. It really is up to the new Council to determine its preferred approach to the branding associated with the new entity and obviously the Council may want to consult the community on such an issue as well.
“Any brand or logo suggestions already forwarded to the LTC by the community will be kept and provided to the new Council for its consideration.”
