Need extra motivation to get active outdoors and enjoy the beautiful Peregian beach, pathways and foreshore?
Join Lorna Jane Noosa Store Manager, Rebecca Brooks in a free Sunshine Coast Heart Foundation Walk at Peregian with the newly formed Never Never Never Give Up walking group.
Grab the family, a friend, a neighbour, or come alone and join in an enjoyable 60 minute, medium-paced walk each Thursday at 4.30pm from 19 May 2011. The meeting place for participating walkers is near the entrance of the Peregian Beach Surf Life Saving Club, Kingfisher Drive, Peregian Beach. Please arrive five minutes early so the group can leave on time. Dress for comfort, be sun smart and bring a water bottle.
A Lorna Jane Active Living incentive is available to Peregian Beach Heart Foundation Walking members to be used at the Lorna Jane Noosa Civic store – vouchers can be obtained following the walks.
Division 11 Councillor Russell Green said the new Never Never Never Give Up Peregian walking group would provide participants with a range of benefits.
"The new group will provide walkers with the chance to meet new friends or spend time with family," he said.
"Along with the health and social benefits, there’s the added incentive of being able to enjoy such a beautiful backdrop as you walk along Peregian Beach."
Community Policy and Programs Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said Sunshine Coast Council and the Heart Foundation were pleased to provide all residents and visitors with the Heart Foundation Walking program.
"There are over 70 walks that occur across the Coast including monthly Moonwalks and pram walks," she said.
"Heart Foundation Walking provides a great opportunity to enjoy the health benefits of fresh air and physical activity."
Heart Foundation Walking is an initiative funded by the Queensland Government and aimed at getting more Queenslanders active. Walks do not occur in the event of persistent rain or storms.
