Mooloolaba magic is in the air this summer
  • Thursday 22 December 2016
ImageCombine festive cheer, a sprinkle of fairy lights, a busking competition, homegrown markets and so much more - Mooloolaba is definitely the place to be this summer.

Division 4 Councillor John Connolly said council’s Community Grants Program was helping Mooloolaba Business and Tourism to deliver an action-packed calendar of events designed to entertain visitors and residents enjoying the renowned tourist hub.

“Mooloolaba will be bursting at the seams with free events for all the community to enjoy during the festive season, including free movies, markets and of course the ever popular family-friendly New Year’s Eve,” Cr Connolly said.

“In celebration of the summer holidays, residents and visitors will also notice a little bit of extra sparkle appearing in the Norfolk Island pines along Mooloolaba Esplanade to greet them to the precinct.

“During this busy time, we can also take advantage of the influx of visitors and promote the Rate Mooloolaba Beach as Australia’s best beach on TripAdvisor campaign.

“Locals and visitors have voted Mooloolaba Beach as the number six beach in Australia and we have until December 31 to help us reach the top five in 2017.”

Mooloolaba Business and Tourism president Bruce Ferguson said Beach Buskers of Mooloolaba would see talented buskers performing in different locations each Friday throughout January.

The busker who receives the most votes in the two categories – beginners and experienced - will be in the running to win a live video performance of their own original song on Balcony TV, a gig at Mooloolaba Surf Club, two nights’ accommodation for 2 people at the Beach Club Resort Mooloolaba and $500 cash.

There will also be prizes for the voters and Mooloolaba businesses will be offering fantastic Beach Busker Specials each Friday night.

“Families will love the free outdoor movie series during the summer holidays,” Mr Ferguson said.

Locals and visitors can grab a blanket or beach chair and enjoy classic movies on our picturesque Mooloolaba Beach at 6.30pm on December 27, January 3 and 21.

You can also head to the Mooloolaba Collective Markets to pick up some homegrown, homemade or home-designed products at the Mooloolaba State School grounds on Sunday, January 8 and 22.
