Men’s Health Week – a great time to raise awareness and support
  • Thursday 25 May 2017
ImageThe 2017 theme for Men’s Health Week, June 12-18, is Healthy Body - Healthy Mind: Keeping the Balance.

To celebrate council is supporting a number of free events in Men's Health Week that respond to issues impacting the health of men and boys in our community.

In Australia, Men's Health Week provides a platform for challenging and debating key issues in men's health and to raise the profile of men, their health outcomes and health needs around the country each June.

Mayor Mark Jamieson said Men's Health Week promoted engaging events, promotions and activities that were tailored to the needs of men and boys.

“The focus was on improving and maintaining the health of our men, boys and their families, and having those meaningful conversations about the factors that keep us healthy in body and mind,” Mayor Jamieson said.

“In line with the aims of the Social Strategy we are building a healthy, smart and creative region and raising awareness of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle during Men’s Health Week.

“I will be attending the talk by Dr Craig Allingham who is a men's health educator and sport physiotherapist who will cover aspects of male health attitudes, behaviours and outcomes.

“It is a week of celebration and engagement of men with a serving of health on the side.”
