The inaugural Sunshine Coast Mayoral Ball has been described as a stunning success with more than 300 guests enjoying a gala night of entertainment while contributing $64,000 to local charity SunnyKids.
Mayor Mark Jamieson said the success of the inaugural ball held last month would help ensure it becomes an annual event on the Coast calendar.
“The Mayoral Ball was all about looking good, feeling good and doing good and I think we achieved all three,” Mayor Jamieson said.
“It was fantastic to have such great support and the money raised will certainly be very well spent in our Sunshine Coast community.
“My thanks go to everyone who attended or contributed in some way, particularly our Mayoral Ball Foundation Partners who demonstrated once again how community-minded they are.
“There were many highlights but a special part of the ball for me was being able to join an outstanding artist in Kendall Perkins in an artistic collaboration which produced the highest priced auction item of the night.”
SunnyKids president Karen Neuendorf said she was thrilled with the success of the event and said planning would commence soon for the 2017 event.
“We were really pleased with the number of people who came out to enjoy the ball,” Mrs Neuendorf said.
“Our hard working committee had less than two months to pull it together so it was a great achievement from everyone involved.
“The feedback has also been very positive, the entertainment and atmosphere was first class and we are confident that the Mayoral Ball will now become an important part of the Sunshine Coast social calendar for many years to come.”
SunnyKids founder and CEO Chris Turner said funds raised from the night would benefit a large number of families across the region with proceeds also being distributed to other local charities.
“In the spirit of community collaboration, we’ve also been able to make contributions to Riding for the Disabled, STEMM, White Ribbon Foundation and a bursary to University of Sunshine Coast from the funds raised on the night so it’s great that other groups can benefit from the Mayoral Ball,” Mr Turner said.
“SunnyKids is pleased to be the official charity of the Mayoral Ball for the next two years and we will work hard to ensure it is one of the premier events on the Sunshine Coast.”
The Inaugural Sunshine Coast Mayoral Ball’s Foundation Partners included ANZ Bank, Big Kart Track, Keith & Karen Neuendorf, Audi Centre Sunshine Coast, HRM Consulting & Contracting, Hall Contractors, Walter Iezzi Property, Coastline BMW and The Events Centre.
