Mayor Jamieson - We need election commitments detail
  • Wednesday 22 November 2017

We are now in the final days of the State election campaign, but that does not mean we should lose the focus on what is important for the Sunshine Coast when it is time to vote.

During the past four weeks, there have been a number of commitments made by the various political parties and candidates and we welcome what appears to have been some increased interest in meeting the overlooked needs of our region.

What has been lacking, however, is detail in some of these commitments with very little, if any, information on how they will be funded or when.

Council is advocating strongly for six infrastructure priorities with funding for rail and transport infrastructure at the top of the list.

When I tour our region, the feedback from the community is clear.

They want real action from our State Government so that the Sunshine Coast, one of our country's largest city-regions, does not continue to be left behind when it comes to funding crucial infrastructure.

We need to get on with the job of building a strong future for all of our residents, not just those in marginal seats.
