Mayor Jamieson - Celebrating our 50th anniversary
  • Thursday 06 July 2017

With July already upon us, the countdown is well underway for the official commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the Naming of the Sunshine Coast on August 1.

We have already enjoyed some fantastic events in our 50th anniversary year, but there are plenty more to come, including concerts, a women's AFL carnival, a poetry trail, the Festival of Sand,  street fairs, parties and exhibitions as we reach the peak celebration period.

It's all part of celebrating our identity, engaging our community and showcasing our history and future.

We're also celebrating and commemorating the people who have shaped and defined the Sunshine Coast.

You can find the full program for this historic occasion at sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/fifty and I encourage everyone to get out and about and enjoy all the actitivies available in our community.

Also, make sure you keep an eye out for the memory mobile which is touring the region and gives you the chance to record your fond memories of the Sunshine Coast.
