Mayor Jamieson - A big year coming for events
  • Thursday 03 January 2019

It's only the first week of the new year, but we're all set to host the first of dozens of major events coming to our Sunshine Coast, Australia's regional capital for events, in 2019.

Fittingly given it's the middle of summer,  Queensland's best young cricketers - under-17 girls and under-15 and 16 boys - will be our first visitors for their four-day championships based at Elizabeth Daniels Park in Buderim, starting on Monday.

Our events calendar covers a wide range of genres from arts and culture through to sport, food and outdoor pursuits.

There is something on during every month of the year, across all 10 council divisions.

This year, with the support of Tourism and Events Queensland, we have a couple of outstanding new additions - our first official NRL game at Sunshine Coast Stadium on April 13 and The Curated Plate food festival on August 8-12.

Our Sunshine Coast Events Board and council's major events team do a great job with attracting new events, and helping existing ones to continue and thrive, adding to our great lifestyle here in our healthy, smart, creative region.
