A recently completed major revamp has Maroochydore Lions Park looking significantly fresher, younger and ready for use while still preserving and enhancing its unique character and sense of place alongside Eudlo Creek.

Division 7 Councillor Ted Hungerford said stages 3 and 4 of Sunshine Coast Council’s Maroochydore Lions Park Landscape Concept Plan have made the park more accessible by car, foot or bike as well as providing an improved picnicking and recreational experience.

“Maroochydore Lions Park is an important environmental and community recreation area located next to beautiful Eudlo Creek on Fishermans Road, Maroochydore,” Cr Hungerford said.

“The landscape concept plan was developed to reflect the themes and ideas that emerged from the community engagement process.

“This latest stage of works 3 and 4 included the following park improvements:

  • additional 36 car parking bays
  • additional 7 boat trailer parking bays
  • park shelter with barbeques and park furniture
  • shared cycle and pedestrian paths.”

Place Management and Delivery Portfolio Councillor Greg Rogerson said council would be implementing the Landscape Concept Plan via a process of staged construction over multiple years, subject to available funding.

“Stage 1 and 2 – completed last year – included playground refurbishment, revegetation with endemic plant species and pedestrian pavements among other works,” Cr Rogerson said.

“Once complete, the implementation of the landscape concept plan will improve park facilities and recreational use of the park to cater for a wide range of activities and improve the natural environmental features of the park.”
