Sunshine Coast Council has extended the deadline for community input and feedback on proposed options for the Maroochy River entrance until Friday October 6.
Mayor Mark Jamieson said council had sought input from the community through a range of channels, including an online survey, to assist council to make an informed decision on the selection of a suitable option for upgrades of the Maroochy River mouth coastal structures.
“I strongly encourage the community to take this opportunity and share their views on this important issue,” Mayor Jamieson said.
“This online survey was made available to the community ahead of five community consultation sessions which were held last month.
“The survey results and feedback received through community consultation sessions and through the Maroochy River Estuary Consultation Group (MRECG) will assist council’s decision making.”
The ,MRECG will provide council with feedback from local surf clubs, community and environmental groups and Indigenous community representatives along with State Government agencies, the Maroochydore Chamber of Commerce, the University of the Sunshine Coast and Surf Life Saving Queensland.
