Motorists travelling along North Arm – Yandina Creek Road will now experience improved safety and smoother surfaces after Sunshine Coast Council upgraded a 2km section of the road.
Division 9 Councillor Steve Robinson said the newly sealed section of road linked Valdora Road with the existing bitumen to the west, towards Hidden Valley Road.
“The upgrade has improved safety for motorists, minimised dust and reduced long-term maintenance costs,” Cr Robinson said.
“The sealed road consists of two 3.3m wide road lanes with 650mm sealed shoulders on both sides.
“Council staff worked weekends to maximise productivity. The project was delivered six weeks ahead of schedule and well under budget. It also allowed the road to open sooner to traffic.
“The road is now much safer for pedestrians and motorists.
“The added road width also caters for school buses and improves road safety for nearby schools.”
Cr Robinson thanked the community for their patience and understanding during construction.
“Council is committed to improving road infrastructure networks across the region and continues to invest in upgrades like this through its annual Capital Works Program.”
