Loving new home wanted for Coolum artworks
  • Thursday 13 July 2017
Not-for-profit groups and individuals can express their interest in providing a new home for four colourful artworks which will be removed as part of the Coolum Library refurbishment works currently underway.

Division 9 Councillor Stephen Robinson said the art pieces would look great on other walls within the community

“Due to the new contemporary design of Coolum Library, it means there are a few arts pieces which will be removed from our current collection,” he said.

“We would like to invite expression of interests from not-for-profit organisations or individuals who would like to provide a new home for the vibrant Coolscapes paintings created by the Coolumurals Team in 2004.

“The artists - Tim Buitenhuis, Alex McLachlan, Oshi Simpson and Shelly Spence - included local Coolum icons such as the boardwalk and the beach within the art pieces.

“These artworks have been admired by the community for many years and I can see them continuing to brighten a dull wall or community space for many more years to come.”

Eligible organisations can submit their expressions of interest by August 11 by visiting the friendly team at Coolum Library located at 6 Park Street, Coolum or by calling 5475 8989.
