Some of the region’s most successful businesses have banded together today to disprove the myth that the Sunshine Coast is just a holiday destination.
Sunshine Coast Council’s Portfolio Chair for Economic Development and Entrepreneurship Cr Lew Brennan said the Sunshine Coast is a great business destination from which to undertake and conduct business locally, nationally and overseas – a position supported by those who participated in this initiative.
“These organisations are helping to improve the region’s economic future by highlighting the advantages of running a commercial operation on the Sunshine Coast," Cr Lew Brennan said.
Each testimonial is part of a business case study, which Cr Brennan said is a critical tool for encouraging local business to keep investing and in attracting new business to the region, to add job diversity and stimulate spending in other sectors.
“By profiling their businesses and giving personal testimonials about the region’s business advantages, we are building a strong and comprehensive business case demonstrating why the Sunshine Coast should be on the shopping list for those looking to develop or re-locate smart, innovative and export driven businesses,” he said.
“The region needs to be seen as more than just a great holiday destination, but also as an ideal business destination.”
To show appreciation for the support given by the business case participants, a small thank-you function was held today at Bizfurn Express’s Maroochydore showroom.
This local innovative furniture designer, manufacturer and retailer, was pleased to be a joint host, citing the need to better communicate to the world the benefits of the Sunshine Coast as a business destination.
Other class leading businesses who took part in the project and are attending the event are Action Tank Industries and Springfree Trampoline Australia. Both offer compelling reasons as to why the Sunshine Coast is the natural location for their business needs.

Other businesses highlighted the ability to attract and retain the best staff and access the benefits of a major capital city just to the south but without the congestion and commuter time issues, which add significant business costs.
The Natural Advantage initiative aims to support the growth and success of existing business while attracting new business to further diversify and strengthen the region’s economy. The 26 organisations involved in this initial part of the campaign each fall into one of the 11 industry sectors identified for development in the recently endorsed Sunshine Coast Council Economic Development Strategy.
