Sunshine Coast residents and visitors can now get the latest information about public transport in and around the region, thanks to a free guidebook developed by Sunshine Coast Council.
Funded by the Public Transport Levy, the ‘Guide to Public Transport on the Sunshine Coast’ includes tools, information and advice to get more people out of cars, and onto public transport.
Public Transport Portfolio Councillor Rick Baberowski said people may be surprised at the number of public transport options which are available to them.
"Buses service the region’s major hubs, trains run directly to Brisbane and there are a number of services available such as Flexilink, school services and late night transport," Cr Baberowski said.
"The guide shows people which services are accessible to them with journey planning maps, information on ticketing and zones, community service information, and handy travelling tips.
"A greater awareness of the services available will hopefully encourage people to give public transport a go and help contribute towards a more environmentally sustainable Sunshine Coast.
"The guide is just one of the ways the Public Transport Levy is helping to encourage greater public transport use on the Sunshine Coast.
The ‘Guide to Public Transport on the Sunshine Coast’ is available from council offices, libraries and visitor information centres. It can also be viewed online by going to council’s website.
