Food allergy smart

Join Jackie Nevard, the author of My Food Allergy Friends, at Sunshine Coast Libraries on January 31 and during February for a guided tour on how to be food allergy smart.

During the 90-minute session, Jackie will pass on practical tips for assisting kids with allergies at home, in childcare and at school.

Statistics show food allergies affect one in 10 children.

Participants will learn about the top nine allergens and discover where they can be hidden.

They’ll also gain tools for tackling social occasions where food plays a part, as well as find out about testing facilities, support groups and the further resources that are available.

Sessions will be held at:

Maroochydore Library – Tuesday, January 31 (5pm-6.30pm);

Coolum Library – Thursday, February 9 (2pm-3.30pm);

Kawana Library – Thursday, February 9 (5pm-6.30pm);

Caloundra Library – Tuesday, February 14 (5pm-6.30pm);

Nambour Library – Thursday, February 16 (5pm-6.30pm).

The sessions are free but bookings are essential by going to www.library.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au or calling 5475 8989.
