Visitors to the popular playground at Pioneer Park in Landsborough are in for a treat with an upgrade from council about to get underway.
Work will start on Tuesday, July 11 to commence removal of the worn out wooden fort and include a replacement play hut with an accessible ramp and slides for all abilities, an additional four-seat rocker, a birds nest swing, new rubber softfall, park seating, sandstone seating walls and garden bed planting.
Although construction will take around 12 weeks, a substantial part of the playground will remain open for the majority of the construction period.
Division 1 Cr Rick Baberowski said the $300,000 project was part of the community’s vision to be a great family friendly destination and is funded through council’s capital works program.
“This is an exceptionally well used and much loved park that attracts groups and so many locals and visitors from around the Coast. I know there will be some disruption but it will be an even better destination for families once this upgrade is complete,” Cr Baberowski said.
