Following community requests for a dog off-leash area in Landsborough, council is seeking feedback on a proposed location south-west of Pioneer Park along Caloundra Street.

Division 1 Councillor Rick Baberowski encouraged the community to have their say on the proposal.

“Landsborough continues to develop as a great country town with a proud sense of history and a lifestyle that is pretty special. Its recreation areas are an important part of this,” Cr Baberowski said.

“Council has responded to community requests for this off-leash area, as we understand what an important part dogs can play in a family or as companions.

“I look forward to hearing what residents think about this proposed location.”

The proposed dog off-leash area would be suitable for dogs of various sizes and include:

  • a 1.2m high fence with black PVC coated chain wire and secure self-closing access gates
  • shelter and seating areas
  • water tap with dog bowl
  • concrete access paths and signage
  • dog bag dispenser and rubbish bin
  • off-street car parking (part of a long term plan).

Council undertook a detailed site investigation to identify potential locations and determined the Caloundra Street location to be the most suitable, due to its location and existing infrastructure.

You can have your say via an online survey or email feedback to parkscapitalworks@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au

Submissions close 5pm, Thursday December 23.
