During the April school holidays Sunshine Coast Council invites local kids to attend Rhythm Culture drumming workshops at Lake Kawana Community Centre and The J at Noosa.

Rhythm Culture will take kids on an exciting journey through rhythm, movement and sound using a wide range of West African instruments.

The workshops will be conducted by local musician Nathaniel Coombs who lived in West Africa and played with world famous ensembles. Nathaniel has been actively involved with a number of traditional and contemporary artists and performs at major festivals such as the Woodford Folk Festival.

Rhythm Culture is a lively interactive workshop which is suitable for parents and their children aged 7 years and over and will get the chance to drum and obtain an introduction to West African rhythm. No previous percussion experience is needed.

Drumming workshops will be held at Lake Kawana Community Centre at 9.30am and 11.30am on Wednesday 4 April and at The J at Noosa at 9.30am and 11.30am on Thursday 5 April 2012.
