The Caloundra Music Festival invites community groups, sports clubs, schools, creative groups, dance groups, bands, musicians and amateur street performers to join in the celebrations at the Caloundra Music Festival.
The festival will feature big name Australian and international acts like Pete Murray, The Whitlams, Vanessa Amorosi and Ian Moss with local and emerging artists also being showcased.
Festival Director Richie Eyles said there was a wealth of opportunities for local community groups and individuals to participate in the festival this year through a new initiative called the Village of Diversity.
The village will set up alongside the beautiful Kings Beach, just outside the main festival arena, and will feature free community entertainment.
“We are looking for local clubs, schools and community groups to march, dance, sing, drum and strut their stuff in the village, which will also feature roving street performers, an old-fashioned beach side carnival, buskers and free children’s entertainment”, said Mr Eyles.
The festival also provides community groups with valuable fundraising opportunities, including space to set up food stalls and to raise funds. The Dicky Beach Surf Club will raffle a surf board featuring the Sun Surf and Soul logo.
Applications are open for volunteers to work on the festival. Last year the festival’s volunteers (affectionately known as COGS) were the soul of the inaugural community event, receiving wonderful feedback from festival patrons for their friendly service.
Production businesses wishing to provide services (sound and lighting) are also invited to submit quotes. Specifications are available from the festival office.
All applications and expressions of interest can be submitted on the website www.caloundramusicfestival.com.
