Not-for-profit housing providers, design and development sector and real estate representatives, and interested community members are invited to help tackle affordable housing issues on the Coast by nominating for the Sunshine Coast Council’s Housing Affordability Task Force.
There are four vacant positions on the task force and nominations close on 25 January 2010.
Details of the roles, the nomination kit and nomination form are available on council’s website.
Sunshine Coast Council’s Social Policy Portfolio holder and Housing Affordability Taskforce Chair, Cr Anna Grosskreutz, said that the task force is looking for new recruits who will complement the existing team.
“Being involved with the task force provides the members with an opportunity to inform council on key housing and affordable living issues, to be innovative and to be part of the solutions,” Cr Grosskreutz said.
“At the moment we have four vacancies and are seeking nominations from not-for-profit housing providers, development, design and real estate industry representatives, and interested community members.”
Cr Grosskreutz said the task force is looking for people who have a strong desire to bring about change and a keen interest in making the Coast an inclusive community, affordable for all.
“New recruits will be selected based on a number of criteria, including their knowledge of community issues and the factors that impact on the availability of affordable and appropriate housing,” Cr Grosskreutz said.
“Members will attend monthly meetings and will be involved in sub-groups to work on key projects such as the planning scheme review, advocacy and research projects.
“This is a chance to contribute to creating a sustainable and affordable future for the Sunshine Coast.
“I look forward to welcoming the new recruits in the new year.”
New members will be appointed in time to attend the task force’s meeting in February 2010.
