Help shape the future of arts funding on the Sunshine Coast
  • Wednesday 04 March 2015

Council is undertaking a review of the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) program and you are invited to have your say.

And it’s easy to do – simply complete the short online survey before 5pm, March 13 and you will also go in the draw to win a $50 gift voucher to spend at the Caloundra Regional Gallery gift shop.

Community Programs Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said RADF was a partnership between the Queensland Government and Queensland councils that enabled councils to support local artists and arts and cultural activities in local communities.

“The RADF program provides opportunities to local artists and organisations to develop original and innovative quality arts and cultural projects,” Cr McKay said.

“A set of guidelines developed through consultation with local councils has been in place for many years with eight categories of RADF funding available for individuals, groups or local councils.

“Council now has an opportunity to propose its own model of RADF for the Sunshine Coast region.

“The new RADF program will be based on locally relevant decision making processes, delivery models and priorities.

“Feedback from the community is encouraged and welcomed so we can ensure the new program is the right fit for our local arts community.

“Council will be undertaking community information sessions at the end of March using the feedback gathered from the surveys to form a list of potential changes for further community input.

“The new guidelines will be introduced from July 1, 2015.”

While the guidelines may change RADF’s core objectives will remain:
• Supporting locally determined arts and cultural priorities
• Supporting local artists and arts and cultural activity
• Providing opportunities for local communities to participate in arts and cultural activities.

The community information sessions will be held:
• Monday, March 30 from 4 - 6pm at Lake Kawana Community Centre
• Tuesday, March 31 from 4 - 6pm at Coolum Civic Centre.
