Help shape the future of the Coolum Library

Make sure you have your say on draft concept floor plans which outline potential opportunities for extending Council's Coolum Library.

Division 9 Councillor Stephen Robinson said the Sunshine Coast Libraries Plan 2014-2024 recommended Council conduct a Facility Development Plan to investigate opportunities for expanding the existing Coolum Library building.

“Coolum Library is one of council’s most utilised and valued community services and it is important we are responsive to the needs of the growing community,” Cr Robinson said.

“The community will have the opportunity to inform the Feasibility Development Plan and help shape the future of Coolum Library.

“Your feedback will help to ensure that changes to the library align with community needs. However, it is important to note this project is budget dependent so while your feedback will help finalise the development plan, Council will need to consider funding any expansions as part of its budget deliberations which will be finalised in June.“

Cr Robinson said that there are a number of ways to provide input and help shape the future of the Coolum Library.

"The draft concept drawings will be available for viewing and feedback in Coolum Library from Monday, March 2 to Tuesday, March 31,” he said.

“The plans will also pop up around Coolum – so keep your eyes open and take the time to view them.

“The community can also visit council’s website or call council’s Customer Contact Centre on 5475 7272.

“The feedback will help to prepare a recommendation for the Coolum Library which will be presented to Council in mid-2015.”
