Division 5 Councillor Jenny McKay said the draft plan identified future requirements for facilities and infrastructure, and future management arrangements.
“The draft plan aims to be consistent with community demand, whilst also protecting the environmental values of the site,” Cr McKay said.
“The draft master plan ensures continued adherence with council endorsed strategies, all of which articulate the protection of the Park as a Motorcycle Precinct. The draft plan also upholds a key principle of ensuring continued and improved access for the community to the Park.
“We want to ensure the draft master plan is realistic and considers the expectations and capacity of council and stakeholders.”
Sport and leisure consultants Otium Planning Group have been engaged to assist council in undertaking this study.
Cr McKay said there were several ways the community could engage directly with the consultants.
“This will include a Meet us at the Park event on Saturday, September 17, feedback forms and a dedicated email address or phone number available to all community members,” Cr McKay said.
“It is important to note council has not made a commitment to fund all recommendations from the draft master plan. Its implementation will require external funding assistance. Council is however of the view that this site has enormous potential so it is important that planning is undertaken in an orderly and consultative manner.
“It is vital to have a well-researched plan in place to ensure council is aware of the needs of the community and is able to take advantage of funding opportunities as they arise.
“This is an important project for the people of Condondale and the entire Sunshine Coast region and we look forward to hearing from residents.”
Community feedback will continue throughout the draft master planning process and will close on Friday, September 23. Feedback received during the community consultation period will inform the final master plan which will then be presented to council for endorsement.
