Have your say on the future of popular Wurtulla Park

Do you use Noel Burns Park? Do you like it the way it is, or do you have you some ideas for improvements?

Sunshine Coast Council is inviting the community to attend a "Meet us in the Park" consultation session on Saturday 10 December from 9 to 11am about the future of the 2 hectare Noel Burns Park, Wurtulla, stretching the banks of beautiful Lake Currimundi.

As well as having the opportunity to review the draft landscape concept plan, local residents and the wider community who come along can take advantage of free tree day being held on site and a sausage sizzle.

Division 3 Councillor Keryn Jones said she encouraged the community to come along and have a look at council’s ideas and share their visions for the park.

"Your feedback is very valuable to us to ensure the park design is reflective of the community’s needs and aspirations," she said.

"And if you bring along your current rates notice, you can collect two free trees.

"There will be a choice of trees, natives and ground covers and a council horticulturalist will be on hand to answer questions about the best growing conditions for the plants.

"Plus the Currimundi Catchment Care Group will be cooking up a sausage sizzle so why not bring the family along and enjoy the beautiful Currimundi Lake backdrop while enjoying a bite to eat."

Some of the park features in the draft landscape concept plan include:

  • two new viewing points
  • two new natural play areas
  • a new play trail
  • upgrading the existing BBQ
  • maintaining the green open space character
  • planting of new trees and greenery.

The free tree day, sausage sizzle and "Meet us in the Park" will be held at Noel Burns Park, Mulloka Esplanade, Wurtulla, near the toilets on Saturday 10 December 2011 from 9 to 11am.
