Sunshine Coast Council has prepared a landscape concept plan for Maroochydore Lions Park and Eudlo Creek that aims to reflect the vision, priorities and aspirations of the community.
The local community and visitors have the opportunity to review the concept plan and provide their feedback personally at a ‘Meet us in the Park’ event at Fishermans Road Sunday Market, Lions Park, Maroochydore on Sunday 28 August from 7.30 to 11.30am.
Alternatively, you can review the draft concept plan on council’s website and provide written feedback by email to email@example.com or by mail to Sunshine Coast Council, Locked Bag 72, Sunshine Coast Mail Centre, QLD 4560 by Friday 2 September 2011.
Division 7 Councillor Ted Hungerford said the Lions Park, Maroochydore Landscape Concept Plan would inform council of the long term community upgrade requirements for this unique foreshore parkland.
"In March 2011, council commenced the first stage of community engagement seeking input to inform the concept plan for Lions Park," he said.
"I strongly encourage local people to come along to the "Meet us in the Park" event to see the concept plan they helped to shape through the initial engagement process and to take this final opportunity to have their say on this important environmental and community recreation area.
"Based on community feedback, council will finalise the Draft Lions Park Concept Plan.
"This concept plan and the identified priorities will then guide the detailed design, construction and refurbishment of key parkland elements in a staged process of implementation over future years, subject to funding."
The Lions Park Concept Plan will aim to:
- Build on the previous master plan and community engagement completed in the year 2000;
- Preserve and enhance the unique character and sense of place of Lions Park and Eudlo Creek;
- Enhance park facilities and improve environmental, recreational, aesthetic and social amenity to cater for a range of user groups.
Council has scheduled a capital funding allocation of $1.25 million for construction over the next three years.
