Colouring the streets and pop-up parks, better connections to Petrie Creek and more events in the town centre are just some of the ideas outlined in the Draft Nambour Activation Plan to help energise Nambour and make it a thriving and extraordinary place.
Council is calling on the community to have their say on the ideas via either the online survey, at the Nambour Library or one of the local cafes in Nambour before the end of August.
Division 10 Councillor Greg Rogerson said Nambour continued to play an important role on the Sunshine Coast.
“Nambour offers a diverse range of education, health and social infrastructure close to key growth areas and economic game changers on the Sunshine Coast,” Cr Rogerson said.
“There is already a rising confidence in the town’s future due in part to an increasing population, a younger demographic moving in and a new vibe around town.
“The Draft Nambour Activation Plan provides the framework to activate the streets and places of Nambour—it aims to stimulate ideas, solutions and investment in Nambour.
“From suggesting projects like the aquatic fun park investigation and progressing the Nambour Heritage Tramway project, to making the streets great places to hang out with art displays, pop-up shops, and more events, the activation plan highlights some quick wins to be trialled.
“But Council needs to know what the community thinks, what works and what is missing because ultimately it’ll be up to them to make the implementation a success.
“Nambour is well positioned to build on its valuable assets and look towards a bright future.
“Now more than ever Nambour and the surrounding towns need to build confidence in the area as it reinvents itself as a thriving and extraordinary place to live, work and play.”
