How can museums use new technology and virtual reality to enhance and interpret, rather than replace, historical objects? Head to the next Friday3Live event at Caloundra Regional Gallery on July 15, from 7-9pm, to find out more.
Presented by Dr Andrew Yip, Museum Objects in the Age of the Unreal, is a Friday3Live event not to be missed.
Museums are traditionally institutions that collect, preserve and interpret real objects, but what happens to collections in the age of the unreal, where virtual reality experiences and high fidelity copies are commonplace? How will visitors interact with museums of the future? Dr Yip will discuss all this and more.
Dr Yip is a researcher in experimental new media and emerging new media technologies in the gallery and museum sector, with a background in art history, galleries and universities.
Places are limited so bookings are essential. Book your place via the gallery website. Cost to attend is $5.
