Safer travels for drivers and pedestrians – that’s the outcome from Sunshine Coast Council’s $1.1million upgrade to Glenview Road.
Division 1 Councillor Rick Baberowski said the project involved renewal of failing road pavement along a section of Glenview Road, west of the school between Rosemary Avenue and Tolson Road.
“These works have greatly improved the quality of the road surface on this stretch of Glenview Road, making it much safer and smoother for commuters,” he said.
“Along with the road re-surfacing and sealing works, this upgrade also included installation of guard rail, kerb and channel works, earthworks, construction of retaining walls for pathways and new stormwater drainage.”
Division 5 Councillor Jenny McKay said further upgrades to Glenview Road would continue in future years.
“This upgrade to Glenview Road is planned to be undertaken in a number of stages according to available budget,” she said.
“The first stage of works involved a number of design challenges that were addressed, including improvements to road corners, road width and difficult driveways and council is committed to extending these improvements further west along Glenview Road in the future.”
