Get your party started with council’s events management program

Learn the secrets to running successful events in a series of workshops organised by the Sunshine Coast Council and featuring local media identities.

Two must-see workshops from council’s events management program are scheduled for 25 August and 27 October 2010.

Experts from across the country will share their experiences with local community groups and small businesses, encouraging them to create new events, boost community engagement and network with other event organisers.

Council’s Manager Creative Communities, Pauline Gordon, said the workshops cover planning, marketing, funding, sponsorship and media.

“The workshop series is council’s contribution towards capacity building in the local events industry,” Ms Gordon said.

“Participants find the workshops provide a wealth of information about event management, site selection and set-up, event marketing, logistics and evaluation.

“And they really enjoy the learning experience. But one of the most positive aspects is that we gather like-minded people and network non-stop for the day.”

The workshops are open to local organisations, individuals, schools, small businesses, smaller community event producers and larger tourism-focused event producers.
