Funding gives ongoing support to community groups

Forty nine community groups across the region will receive funding for operational expenses after Sunshine Coast Council today endorsed $453,000 in funding for the Community Partnership Funding Program.

Council also endorsed $55,000 in additional funding for sports clubs through the Sports Field Maintenance Funding Program. This funding helps clubs to maintain their fields to district competition level.

Mayor Mark Jamieson said both funding programs acknowledge the importance of not-for-profit groups on the Sunshine Coast.

"The Community Partnership Funding Program supports organisations whose activities are closely aligned to council’s vision – without these groups and their hard working volunteers, council would need to provide these services," Mayor Jamieson said.

"Both of these funding programs support a diverse range of groups that play an important role in creating a sustainable Sunshine Coast community."

There is one round of the Community Partnership Funding Program and the Sports Field Maintenance Funding Program each year. The programs open again in March 2013.

Community groups can also apply for funding with council’s Community Grants Program, which is open now. Applications close on 1 September 2012. Further details are available on council's website.
