Festival of Water to reign in August
  • Wednesday 25 June 2008

The fourth-running Festival of Water in Noosa has been re-scheduled to take place on 17 August, following its postponement earlier this month due to torrential rains.

Mayor Bob Abbot will launch the festival at 12PM in the Amphitheatre at Noosa Botanic Gardens, Lake Macdonald Drive, Cooroy. The day’s activities will take place from 10AM to 3PM, hosted by the Lake Macdonald Catchment Care Group.

“The Festival of Water was originally planned to highlight issues relating to our most precious natural resource – water – and to encourage conservation and protection of water supplies for our current and future generations,” says Division 12 Cr Lew Brennan.

“With the water crisis that we are facing here on the Coast, it’s now more than ever that this message needs to get out into the community.”

This year’s festival will showcase some of Noosa’s greatest attractions with live music from local entertainers, as well as a host of activities on the lake, in the botanic gardens and in the speakers’ tent.

Bring your dam, creek or bore water samples for testing, take advantage of the free tree offer for landowners in the Noosa Biosphere area, take a boat tour or a canoe ride, and find out about sustainable fishing via the Take a Kid Fishing program – bookings for this program via calling 5482 4766. Learn and be amazed by the environmental presentations in the speakers’ tent.

A range of refreshments will be available. Admission to the Noosa Festival of Water is free.
