Cat and dog owners should have received their annual Sunshine Coast Council animal registration notices in the mail this month, with renewal due by September 30, 2016.

The annual registration period for cats and dogs commences on October 1 each year and runs through until September 30 the following year.

Significant discounts in registration fees apply for pensioners and owners of dogs and cats that have been de-sexed and micro-chipped and registration is free for pets under six-months-old.

New residents to the Sunshine Coast can transfer their cat or dog registration for free, so if you’ve recently moved to the area now is the time to contact council and register your pet.

Owners of de-sexed and micro-chipped cats also have the option of lifetime registration, which allows them to pay a one-off fee to register their cat. There is no annual renewal fee.

There are several convenient payment methods available including online payments via MyCouncil or BPay, over the phone, via Australia Post or at a council customer contact centre.
