Division 6 budget highlights

In July council handed down its latest budget. Our local area secured some great projects such as $70,000 for pedestrian safety upgrades at Karawatha Drive, $400,000 towards a new library and community facility at Sippy Downs and $50,000 for the Buddina Soccer Club’s new storage shed at Brightwater.

$600,000 cash injection for Albany Lakes Park Playground, Sippy Downs.

Consultation with the Sippy Downs community through the Sippy Downs Parks Master Plan in 2018 showed overwhelming support for a new playground at Albany Lakes Park, with more play opportunities and better car parking. Thanks to Queensland Government’s $100 million South East Queensland Community Stimulus Program, that vision is becoming a reality. This extra funding for the Albany Lakes Park playground will support construction of Stage 2, which includes feature playground equipment with multiple large shade sails, a large picnic shelter, barbecue and drinking fountain.

Mooloolah River Interchange community consultation open now

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is seeking feedback on a project within our Division; the Mooloolah River Interchange (MRI).  The project is a major transport infrastructure upgrade at the existing intersection of the Sunshine Motorway and Nicklin Way at Mountain Creek. Feedback provided by the community will be considered as part of the detailed design, which is the next phase for this project. Have your say via TMR’s website before 27 August 2021.
