Good news for Alex Beach users
I’m happy to say that essential work which had to be carried out on the beach access point (No 166) at Alexandra Parade between Mayfield and Bukatilla streets is now finished.
Weather and erosion had taken their toll on the steps, which needed major repairs. The guys got started on January 27 for what was scheduled to be a two-and-a-half week project and had it completed by February 6 – great work, fellas, especially given the rain interruptions.
There’s now a new concrete landing at the top of the new timber stairs, with erosion proofing built in – and new vegetation is being planted around them to stabilise the area.
Mooloolaba to Minyama Protected Cycleway
Council is hosting two community ‘drop-in’ information sessions next week to view the design and route of the Mooloolaba to Minyama Separated Bikeway and speak to the project team. The sessions are on Thursday 26 February at Mooloolaba Surf Club from 4-7pm, and Saturday 28 February at The Yacht Club, Mooloolaba from 8-10am. You can attend either session at any time, and stay as short or as long as you like. More than 70,000 people ride bikes on the Sunshine Coast each week. The new bikeway will improve the safety of cyclists, pedestrians and motorists in the busy Mooloolaba to Minyama area. Construction is expected to start in July. Council will keep local residents and businesses informed during the construction period.
