I recognise many people are doing it tough, so encourage you to take advantage of your early bird discount and pay your rates by August 22.
Pensioners will also be pleased to know council has retained the pensioner discount.
To make it easier for ratepayers you can set up a direct debit to have your rates paid in full by the due date, or you can register to receive your rates notice by email. Simply go to MyCouncil, visit www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au.
Development activity: Best in three years
Did you know that the last 12 months have provided the most encouraging development activity on the Sunshine Coast since 2010/11?
Over the past year we have seen more development applications and approvals – and more projects getting out of the ground.
The 1662 lots in 2013/14 were nearly double the number created in 2012/2013 (882).
The development numbers from the June quarter have reinforced this upward trend.
There’s been a 34% increase in the number of plumbing applications and 603 lots have been approved by council in April to June 2014 – the highest number for the past three financial years.
RADF grants now open
Professional artists and arts workers – have you thought about applying for a grant through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF)?
The latest major round of RADF is now open and offers up to $10,000 in funding for concept, skills and career development.
