Live and connected
I was pleased to be part of the Sunshine Coast Solar Farm’s official ‘plugging in’ on Monday July 24. As the divisional councillor, it was an exciting moment to be part of the launch of this region’s first solar farm. After many years of challenging work it’s great to say we have succeeded in delivering this sustainable infrastructure for our community.
This year’s Horizon Festival promises to be an outstanding arts and culture event. A particular highlight for local residents will be the Dawn Awakening Ceremony on Sunday September 3. This event honours First Nations People through music, dance and song. It’s a fabulous insight into Indigenous culture of the area. The festival runs from August 25 to September 3. Head to horizonfestival.com.au for details.
Major Community and Environment Levy Grants
Now is the time to apply for a Community and Environment Levy Grant. The grants program provides great financial assistance to not-for-profit community organisations for projects that benefit the Sunshine Coast community. Visit council’s website for grants guidelines and links to online applications. Applications close August 28. Contact a grants officer for assistance on 07 5420 8616 or email email@example.com.
Meet and Greet
My next ‘Meet and Greet’ is at Coolum Library on Wednesday, September 13 from 1-3pm. It's a great opportunity to chat with me about all things council related, I hope to see you there!
