Sunshine Coast names in Top 7 intelligent communities

The Sunshine Coast has been recognised as one of the Top 7 Intelligent Communities of 2019, sharing the global spotlight with communities from Canada, Taiwan and the United States including Chicago.  This award acknowledges the significant advances the region has undertaken to create a more sustainable future through technology based solutions for a connected and engaged community.  It is an amazing achievement for the Sunshine Coast to receive international acclaim in what was a very competitive and rigorous assessment process.

The premise of this achievement is not just the introduction of new technology, but the integration of that technology into the everyday life of the community.  This will help create improved lifestyles while enabling this region to continue to grow sustainably with an amazing range of careers for our kids and other residents in the fields of science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) – think Robotics and Autonomous Vehicles.

The achievement of being one of the Top 7 intelligent communities is something to be celebrated and will undoubtedly give us global recognition. There is no doubt in my mind that when people move to the Coast, whether it is to bring up their family, start a business, advance their careers or invest in the region, the fact that we are deemed one of the top intelligent communities in the world will be extremely well regarded. Congratulations to everyone involved.

Business in Coolum

Recently I attended the Coolum Business and Tourism business breakfast, which had two excellent presentations on recent legislative changes for employees, as well as the benefits of implementing a marketing plan. I think all attendees really enjoyed the presentations, which gave them plenty of food for thought. A big thank you to president Mark and the committee for this initiative.

Meet and greet

My next meet and greet session at the Coolum Library is on March 20 at 1-3pm. I hope to see you there.
