2018/19 budget for Division 9
There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy an outdoor lifestyle in Division 9 and council’s 2018/19 budget will deliver even more. Whether you’re swimming or walking, spending time at parks and playgrounds with the family, hoping to attend outdoor events or just relaxing outdoors, we will be making plenty of improvements in Division 9 to provide more options.
There are several large upgrades planned for the Coolum Aquatic Centre, new multi-purpose court at Peregian Springs and a new camp kitchen at Coolum Beach Holiday Park. Perhaps one of the most significant projects is the latest stage of work at Jack Morgan Park, which will see improvements to the park itself and the car park to create a fantastic civic heart for Coolum. We are also doing preliminary work for Lions/Norriie Jobs Park and making improvements to Point Perry to provide a range of great parks upgrades. There are also upgrades planned for gravel sections of North Arm-Yandina Creek Road and Zgrajewski Road in Yandina Creek.
Better beach accesses for Third Bay
I’m very pleased to advise the long-awaited beach access project for Third Bay (BA84) has now been completed. This major infrastructure project is much more than just a few stairs to the beach and will provide much easier access to the pristine beach at Third Bay with approximately 100 stairs. On what was a very difficult site, it is great to see that this beautiful beach now has a terrific access point. The next project on the books for this area is a new access for BA86, which is underway now and due to be completed in a week or two.
Meet and greet
My next meet and greet session at Coolum Library will be on August 29 at 1-3pm.
