Doonan Open Data Day and National Tree Day this weekend
It’s the Doonan Open Data Expo and National Tree Day event this Sunday and Monday (2 and 3 August) at the Doonan Creek Environment Reserve. I will be there to lend a hand planting trees and to learn more about how council creates a wildlife friendly habitat in this very important reserve. At the time of writing, there are still places left for you to register. Bookings are essential due to the COVID Safe plan in place. Head to the what’s on listing on council’s website to book.

Coolum Tennis Centre Upgrade
Last week I was pleased to meet with the Coolum Tennis Club and Dan Purdie Member for Ninderry to announce the $350,000 grant from the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland fund. It will go towards resurfacing four courts, and the upgrade of fencing and lighting. Council had an initial meeting with the club to discuss the project pre-COVID, and will meet with them again soon to determine the best time for the work to take place. This project will go to a Sunshine Coast company and support local jobs for our community. The Coolum Tennis Club upgrade is an initiative of the Queensland Government.
I’m also happy to advise the path upgrade beside the tennis courts is complete. It’s now safe and stable for players and workers to access the courts and move between the surrounding sporting fields.

Have your say on council’s website
Projects seeking your input at the moment are the Domestic Animal Management Strategy Update, Council support for festive season celebrations and Honey Farm Road Sport and Recreation Precinct Master Plan.
