Allan Templeton Park

Works are now underway for improvements to this popular park. I’m pleased to share that this project includes: the removal of the steel and timber shelter, shelter furniture and associated water tank; removal of the dead tree behind the shelter and the timber bollards along the park access way; installation of a new picnic setting on the existing concrete slab, which will be pressure cleaned and receive minor patching; relocation of the existing waste bin; planting three new trees and turfing of the area exposed by the demolition works and renovating the current gravel parking site. The works should take about three weeks to complete.

I recently attended the gallery opening of Apma - desert ocean fabric art and accessories at Eumundi Village. It was a terrific evening with some spectacular artwork on display. Congratulations to owner/operator Merryn Apma, a strong Western Arrente Woman, for a successful launch.

Both Cr Maria Suarez and I attended the Olympics Live event recently, where together with the community we celebrated the International Olympic Committee’s announcement that Brisbane had secured the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. This is terrific news for our entire region as the Sunshine Coast will play an integral role in Brisbane 2032 and be home to four key venues and several sporting events during the Olympic Games, including, marathon, mountain biking, cycling football, basketball and kiteboarding.

The Sunshine Coast will also host multiple days of road-based events (marathon and road cycling) during the 2032 Paralympic Games. For updates and more information visit
