Well done Nambour United

I recently attended the end-of-year presentations of the Nambour Yandina United Football Club on Saturday 5th December and it was an honour to join the club to celebrate their 2020 season. This club is a wonderful demonstration of a grassroots, community sporting club who have achieved some excellent results and at the same time supported one another through the most challenging year for any sporting club. Here’s to a terrific 2021 season.

Nambour Aquatic Centre

I remember providing my family’s feedback during the consultation process for the Nambour Aquatic Centre Master Planning back in 2016. I am delighted to be able to share the news with you of the construction now underway to provide these upgrades which are now funded and being built. Nambour Aquatic Centre will have a zero depth splash and play park and two water slides.  The upgrade includes $1,050,000 from the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program for the larger water slides, $500,000 from Belgravia Leisure and $460,000 from council for the children’s zero depth splash zone and an additional $650,000 from council for extra car parking.

Thanks to our previous Councillor for keeping the project on track over the years and all the work of the council’s project teams who have made this possible.

There will be some noise and disruption from time to time and I know that the contractor and pool staff will make sure everything is kept safe and accessible. At the same time we need to make sure work continues so that by end of June next year (weather and site conditions permitting) we can enjoy the new facilities. This will become a great attraction for visitors and locals to the Nambour Aquatic Centre and I am looking forward to the opening.
