Proud to be your Division 10 Councillor

It’s a privilege to be your new Division 10 Councillor representing the people of Nambour and its surrounds.

I moved to Nambour with my wife Karen in 2001 to raise our family and I’ve played an active part in community life since then. We have three teenage children, all musicians and sometimes we perform as a family band.

I have worked in the not-for-profit community service sector for the last 25 years, with the last 18 years in disability. I am also proud to share I was the first manager of the Children’s Therapy Centre in Nambour. From there I moved to Epic Employment eventually becoming National Manager for Disability Services.

I look forward to setting up ‘listening posts’ in every town when it’s safe to do so. I look forward to working with you all.

Major Grants now open

Council’s signature Major Grants round is now open and is offering temporary relief from co-funding requirements. This program is a familiar pillar of grant funding support for Sunshine Coast community groups.

For this financial year, council is temporarily suspending the co-funding requirements for Major Grants.

We are going to inject money into community groups to spend quickly and purposefully in our local economy, on projects which keep our community resilient and vibrant, and deliver maximum community benefit.

Volunteers at sporting clubs, neighbourhood centres, museums and arts facilities have gone above and beyond to keep communities connected through the stress of this year.

Council grants officers are available to discuss community group’s projects and funding needs on 5420 8616, or via grants@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au.

For more information visit council’s website. Applications close 24 August.
