Kenilworth businesses shine

Congratulations to Jenna Sanders and the Kenilworth Bakery crew for their outstanding customer service and soaring success. Did you know they started at four donuts a day and now produce 5000 on a Saturday morning?

The Bakery recently received a Local Business Champion nod from Council. The Local Business Champions series was developed to inspire business confidence and win back consumer trust. The series acknowledges local business efforts, including COVID-19 recovery ideas; changes in business model, and inspiring stories from local business. I wish them all the very best in the future and thank them for being such a driving force and tourist magnet for the area.

Recently I attended the premier of a song written for the Kenilworth Dunny by the Sunshine Coast Ukulele Musicians. They performed their special Canistrum song at the fun Pop-up toilet festival in the park. The Canistrum Poem was also performed by Shirley Moreland at the Pop-up toilet festival! Well done to all involved it was a whole lot of fun.

Support through community groups

Council’s most recent Minor Grants program delivered more than $128,000 among 77 not-for-profit organisations from across the region. The Minor Grants program supports not-for-profit organisations to deliver one-off projects, events and activities with broad community benefit.

I’m pleased to share many Division 10 organisations were successful with their grant applications.

The next round of Minor Grants will open on 20 September. In the meantime, Major Grant funding applications will open 19 July and close 30 August. To learn more, visit
