Out and about

On Wednesday 20 January I attended the Nambour Chamber of Commerce networking event at Stalwart Brewery. It was great to hear from Chamber president Mark Bray about some of their new initiatives for this year and meet with local businesses. There’s a lot of momentum happening around Nambour at the moment which is great to see. As always, don’t forget to buy and shop local. Your purchase is an investment in your local community.

Quota Park upgrade

Works are now underway for an upgrade of the Quota Memorial Park in Matthew Street, Nambour. This includes removing the existing shelter and constructing a new picnic shelter with a picnic setting, new barbeque and new integrated footpaths. This is a popular spot for many families to use and I hope you will enjoy the new facilities once complete very soon. Weather permitting they will be finished this month.

Grants available

It’s a brand new year and as not-for-profit community groups start planning their crucial fundraising events and activities for 2021, Council is reminding volunteers to plan their Major Grants applications now. Major Grants offer up to $30,000 for infrastructure projects and up to $15,000 for other projects. Applications for round one are open 1 February to 15 March. Visit council’s website for more information.
