Have your say, today!
Do you live in Yandina? Now’s the time for you to have your say on a proposed amendment to the Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme 2014.
This relates to land located on the northern edge of Yandina’s existing urban area, generally bound by Brandons Road, Steggalls Road and Browns Creek Road.
The subject land comprises nine lots with a total area of approximately 36 hectares. The proposed amendment also relates to land located along Ninderry Road, north of the Yandina Primary School.
This is primarily in response to additional land being included in the Urban Footprint of the South East Queensland Regional Plan in 2017.
Visit council’s website and have your say before 4 December.
Day for Daniel
On Friday 30 October I was very fortunate to join Bruce and Denise Morcombe in the annual Day for Daniel. While the walk numbers were restricted, it was lovely to witness a sea of red shirts with primary school students from across the Sunshine Coast.
The work Bruce and Denise have done in the promotion of child safety and continuing Daniel’s legacy is immeasurable.

Always was, Always will be
I was very honoured to pay tribute and stand alongside our local Elders past and present and be part of Council’s flag-raising ceremony for NAIDOC Week on Tuesday 10 November. I really enjoyed the afternoon at the Nambour NAIDOC family event at the Nambour Showgrounds on Friday 13 November.
This year’s NAIDOC Week theme was Always was, Always will be, and recognised how First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for more than 65,000 years.
It’s important for people to come together and respect the past while uniting together for the future. But I also acknowledge there’s still a lot more to be done.
