Division 10 works

Reilly Road and Mayfield Street in Nambour recently had a road reseal, while the Quota Memorial Park barbecue shelter replacement and footpath project has now been completed. The upgrade included the removal of the existing shelter and construction of a new picnic shelter with new picnic setting, new single plate barbecue, bin, tap and integrated footpaths. The design includes provision for equal access and an interconnected pathway to the other areas and shelters in Quota Park.

Free tree day

I’m pleased to announce there will be a free tree day on Friday 14 May at the Railway Park in Yandina (opposite the Yandina Hotel) from 8-11am. Please pop down if you’d like to collect some new foliage and keep an eye on my Facebook page for event details.

Time for junior stars to shine

Do you know a child keen to be in the spotlight? Primary school students are invited to enter the 2021 Sunshine Coast Get Ready Schools Competition. I’d love to see another school from Division 10 take the title again, after St. Joseph’s Nambour won last year.

All you have to do is create a 30-second video highlighting the importance of having a “WHAT-IF-PLAN” so everyone knows what to do when disaster strikes.

See council’s website for more information. Competition closes 30 April.

Have your say on Nambour parks

We have some great parks on the Sunshine Coast right here in Nambour and I’m sure many of us have experienced them on lots of occasions. That could be a relaxed picnic at one, exploring playgrounds with little ones, connecting with nature, improving your fitness or celebrating a special occasion – our local parks matter to many people for many reasons.

This is your last chance to have your say on Council’s new Draft Sunshine Coast Recreation Parks Plan. This draft plan provides the framework for the delivery and management of functional and affordable recreation parks over the next decade.

Consultation closes this week on 16 April. Visit council’s website and click on the “Have your say” tab for more information.
