How incredible would it be if every single person in our Division and across the Sunshine Coast felt like they truly belonged in their community? You’re invited to join in on Harmony Week celebrations this year, from 15-21 March. Dance, food, culture, topical screenings, a multicultural morning tea plus a movie and photo exhibition are just some of the diverse offerings people can celebrate and join in on the festivities.
People are encouraged to wear orange and come along and try yoga, tai chi and circuit training as part of our Healthy Sunshine Coast program at the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens on Saturday 20 March. There’s lots happening in Nambour including a Harmony Day Yarn at Nambour Community Centre on 21 March, 10am-noon, and an Arts and Culture Federation event at Nambour Town Square on the same day from 10am-2pm.
New healthy activities
Good news for fitness fans, Council’s Healthy Sunshine Coast program has added more classes in Nambour to their line-up. On Tuesdays at the Old School House in Nambour Showgrounds a Mums and Bubs post-natal fitness class will be held from 9.15-10.15am for $5. A group fitness class for over-45s will also be held at the Nambour Showgrounds from 10.45-11.30am for $5 per class. The Great Wall, Nambour
I’ve been asked lately about what’s happening to the community driven artwork, The Great Wall, which was installed in 2007.
After many years it has provided a colourful interjection into the location on Howard Street.
It has undergone several repairs and rectification of impacts of graffiti over the last 14 years and the work has reached its life span.
After consultation with stakeholders and a recent audit, council is following recommendations and will be decommissioning the work during March and April.
The wall to be returned to its original state in partnership with Savills.
